Not Another Teen Movie Unrated
Not Another Teen Movie is a hilarious satire of teen movies, managing to draw out many laughs out of walking cliches and their various stereotyping devices. Jaime Pressly shines as an uncaring head cheerleader while Sam Huntington gives one of his finest performances as an indecent football jock and Eric Jungmann is fantastic as an international student – but there are times when Not Another Teen Movie relies too heavily on recognition humor, leading it down an inane route rather than producing laughs.
This spoof takes aim at virtually every major teen movie from the 1980s and ’90s, such as Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, She’s All That, Varsity Blues Rudy Cruel Intentions American Pie among others. Additionally there are deleted scenes and two commentary tracks (reintroduced from R-rated release), an unrated Marilyn Manson Tainted Love music video, an amusing Yearbook blooper reel (called Yearbook by some viewers), three behind-the-scene featurettes from director Gallen, as well as Gallen’s Car Ride short film and finally an amusing pop quiz on these movies which actually more amuses viewers than other similar featurettes (making for an entertaining viewing experience overall).
As an added extra, this film comes equipped with an entertaining easter egg: nine different interpretations of the generation gap lesbian fight scene from the film. Unfortunately, the decade of crap like Date Movie killed off teen movie spoofs altogether – but this teen movie parody managed to surpass them all!
