Teen Sex Dolls

Shin Takagi, founder of a company which produces lifelike dolls designed to look like prepubescent girls, believes his creations may help paedophiles curb their sexual impulses. These 156cm tall (the average height for 13-year-old girls) dolls can be tailored specifically according to photos of individual children so owners can indulge in fantasies without risking harming real children.

“He claims the company receives “thank-you letters” from satisfied customers, yet critics fear the dolls could be used by paedophiles to fuel their dark desires, said Terri Yoost of Boca Raton-based Child Rescue Coalition. As soon as predators engage with images or videos depicting child abuse online, “they become more likely to act out physically against actual children”, Yoost noted.

One case that highlights this dilemma occurred recently in Massachusetts state police investigations: Sean McClure, 48-year-old from Shirley was investigated after eBay informed them he had purchased an exact replica of his daughter posted to Facebook by eBay as being sold by them on eBay. McClure was arrested, though not charged with anything criminal.

National laws banning the sale and possession of dolls modeled on children have some legitimacy, yet remain highly controversial. Prohibiting them for reasons related to protecting children can be problematic since there has been minimal research conducted on whether criminalizing dolls encourage or protect those with sexual attraction to children.
