Teen Karma
Teen years can be a time when life seems small and invincible. Unfortunately, sometimes actions that seem good at first can end up having detrimental consequences; one such example being this young lady’s story–with devastating results as a result. This lesson learned is sure to resonate throughout her lifetime!
Teen Karma
Karma can be understood in one simple equation: as you sow, so shall you reap. Unfortunately, this process can take days, years, or even eons; making it hard to predict or anticipate its ramifications and when it hits it can be very severe.
Jessica Newson of Marin County launched Teen Karma, a 3,600-square-foot club at Northgate Mall in Novato for teens to study and socialize together. Open weekdays from 2-6 p.m., this free club currently draws between 35-40 youths every day according to Newson.
Newson, who runs Wellify Teen, a West Marin mental health nonprofit, secured funds to launch the club through a grant from the Fullerton Family Foundation. She knew she needed an informal space with no religious ties and chose the mall because it provides low-rent storefronts for nonprofits – hoping also to lease one more empty storefront there for private classes and workshops.
